hawk and dove are a superhero duo of the dc universe. the central concept, originally inspired by the emerging political divides of the sixties (ie war hawks and war doves), traditionally revolves around two young heroes with contrasting personalities and diametrically opposed ideologies who, by speaking their super-heroic aliases, are transformed and granted power sets of heightened strength, speed, and agility. with dove representing reason and nonviolence and hawk representing force and aggression, they complement one another and find a state of balance in order to combat evil. hank and don hall, two brothers, were the original hawk and dove duo. when don was killed in the line of duty, a new dove emerged as dawn granger, having assumed the form after being compelled by mystic forces to save her mother (a diplomatic courier) from harm while being threatened by a radical political group overseas. dawn later learns that she assumed the dove identity before don was killed, implying that some mysterious magical order has been laying out a path for herself and hawk to follow; indeed, the lord of chaos intends to induce destruction and disorder onto the humans of earth from the chaos realm. dawn, a harbinger of peace and justice, intends to stop these forces and protect the civilians of earth together with hawk and has repeatedly teamed up with groups such as the teen titans and other dc universe characters for these purposes. 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐘𝐋𝐄 sweaters, camisoles, hoodies, leggings and other casual clothing items appropriate for studying on campus make up much of dawn's wardrobe, much of which are suited for the east coast's changing seasons and are on as versatile of a spectrum as fits her mood, from grungy combat boots to sundresses. born into a political family, she's well-acquainted with dressing up for business dinners and social gatherings. her hair, naturally dark brown, has been dyed a platinum blonde.  examples: ( 𝑜𝑛𝑒, 𝑡𝑤𝑜, 𝑡𝘩𝑟𝑒𝑒, 𝑓𝑜𝑢𝑟 ) 𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐋 with a wide vocabulary and polished diction, dawn's general grace in speaking has more to do with her upper class upbringing than anything. her slight accent is entirely attributed to being born and raised in the northeast, identifiable in certain words but not pronounced by any means. her soft-spoken manner, however, is all due to her personality. rare to raise her voice merely for the sake of raising her voice, instead with a firm resolve, dawn generally speaks as a reflection of her thoughts: her desire to soothe others, and, when needed, to rise in passionate defense of herself and others rather than to initiate an attack.  𝐎𝐋𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 primarily the perfume scents of jasmine and vanilla, as those are her favorite scents. dawn also carries traces of pen ink, coffee or tea, old (and new) books, and pine wood and earth from her nature walks when off of work and when not being called to the rescue as dove. 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 / 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 unlike most with superhuman abilities, dawn's powers are not consistently a part of her, appearing only when she is in danger and transforming her into dove by way of mystic forces out of her control. when not dove, dawn is no different from any other non-magical human. as dove, she is a very apt judge of others' mental and magical capabilities, although this judgement can certainly be misguided or wrong and others are capable of overpowering her, especially by using her desire to save others against her. her abilities as dove include: DANGER SENSE TRANSFORMATION: WHEN IN THE PRESENCE OF DANGER, WHETHER TO HERSELF OR OTHERS, DAWN CAN CALL OUT THE WORD "DOVE" AND BE TRANSFORMED INTO HER DOVE FORM. SHE DOES NOT NEED TO BE AWARE OF THE DANGER FOR THE TRANSFORMATION TO TAKE PLACE, SO IF SHE HAPPENED TO SAY THE WORD WHILE UNKNOWINGLY BEING IN DANGER, THE TRANSFORMATION WOULD TAKE PLACE. THE TRANSFORMATION ONLY REACTS TO ACTUAL DANGER, SO IF DAWN INCORRECTLY BELIEVED THAT SHE WAS IN DANGER SHE WOULD BE UNABLE TO TRANSFORM INTO DOVE. THE TRANSFORMATION WEARS OFF A SHORT TIME AFTER THE DANGER HAS PASSED, UNLESS DOVE HAS RECEIVED SERIOUS INJURIES WHICH WOULD KILL DAWN, IN WHICH CASE SHE WOULD REMAIN AS DOVE UNTIL THE DANGER FROM THE INJURIES HAS PASSED. ON HIGH MAGIC WORLDS SHE CAN REMAIN AS DOVE FOR EXTENDED PERIODS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THERE IS ANY DANGER PRESENT.
